This is why Queen Square is fenced off

Anyone wishing to walk through Queen Square tonight will notice their path is blocked by large barriers.

The structures have been erected to allow preparations to take place for the Festival of Nature.

The festival, which began last Saturday (June 1), culminates in the 'Big Weekend' starting on Saturday.

Bristol Natural History Consortium chief executive Savita Willmott, who oversaw the organisation of the festival, said: “Our expansion into Queen Square means that visitors will be able to get hands-on with nature with our brilliant exhibitors in one of Bristol’s most beautiful green spaces."

Festival-goers will be able to interact with Bristol Zoo's inhabitants, discover the links between birds and dinosaurs, enjoy a water park at Anchor Square - and much more.

Bristol Natural History Consortium is a charitable collaboration among 13 of the biggest natural history organisations in the city.
