Protesters looped around Bristol city centre carrying two metre foam rollers to show how much space people will need to stay safe.
Around 15 campaigners cycled and walked from the M32's Newfoundland Way to the Bearpit and back again on Monday (May 11) between 4pm and 5pm.
Organiser David Angel said the group wanted to raise awareness about the importance of the 'reallocation of road space' while car usage is still low.
The 46-year-old said he hoped more people would walk and cycle as they started returning to work.
This was also advised by Boris Johnson as he set out his road map for beating coronavirus and easing the lockdown.
But David said for this to happen there needed to be increased pavement space and cycle lanes.
"We would like the council to introduce temporary cycle lanes like other cities have around the world," said David.
"Grant Shapps (Transport Secretary) has made £250 million in grants available for this purpose.
"People are going to need a lot of space if they are going to safely get around our city."
He said during the lockdown he'd noticed a rise in people using bikes.
"I live in Easton and there's been loads of families out on their bikes, loads of younger children you wouldn't normally see," said David.
"They might feel safer because road usage has gone down.
"For them to carry on there needs to be more space for them on the roads."
