This is why fire crews were at the harbourside today

Avon Fire and Rescue has revealed why fire crews were spotted at the harbourside earlier today (Tuesday, May 26).

Firefighters were seen stationed outside the amphitheatre near the city centre at around midday.

Pictures taken by a resident show fire vehicles at the scene as well as a police car present.

A spokesperson for the fire service has now confirmed that firefighters from two stations were carrying out turntable ladder training in the area.

Temple fire station said on Twitter: "Red Watch have been at the amphitheatre in Bristol, to complete some turntable ladder training with @AFRSBedminster.

"Not a bad day to do it either!"

In other news, the owner of Premier Inn has been granted planning permission to rebuild its Cribbs Causeway hotel which was destroyed by fire last year.
