Climate change activists took over the fountains in Bristol this afternoon for a Titanic-themed performance.

Extinction Rebellion has become well known in Bristol and the country for staging large protests and demos.

Titanic took place near Cascade Steps (BristolLive)

The satirical show today (Friday, April 12) took inspiration from the best-selling film Titanic with campaigners depicting a specific scene from the film when staff on board the doomed-ship try and move the deckchairs out of the rising water.

Organisers say the scene is a powerful metaphor for the “imminent climate crisis we are all facing”.

Musicians played tunes as the Titanic went under (BristolLive)

The drama unfolded in front of a backdrop of musicians playing period tunes.

To add to the poignant message, actors decided to dress as national and international politicians while they fell over re-arranging deckchairs, gripping pints of beers.

A huge painting of the sinking Titanic was on display during the action.
