This is why a plane was circling East Midlands Airport

A mysterious plane has been spotted doing loops around East Midlands Airport.

The aircraft was spotted on the afternoon of Thursday, May 7, doing loops around the Castle Donington site.

The airport has confirmed it was a training flight for a private charter company.

FlairJet is an aircraft management company offering a bespoke personal service with airline standard safety.

A spokesman for East Midlands Airport said: "FLJ5511 was a training flight for a company called Flairjet who are a private charter company.

"As EMA is one of the only airports that’s still operating a full, 24 hour air traffic control service, a number of our operators (and the RAF ) have been carrying out some essential training activities here that are needed to keep aircraft and aircrew fit to fly."
