This is why a much-loved deli has closed in Clifton

There's bad news for Bristol's foodies as a well-known deli selling fresh breads, cured meats and delicious cheeses has closed its doors to customers.

But never fear, Chandos Deli on Princess Street, has only shut temporarily to allow for an exciting refurbishment to take place.

Chandos Deli first opened on Chandos Road, one of the city’s premier foodie destinations, in 1992 and now boasts four venues across the city and more branches in Bath and Exeter.

It's rightly grown a reputation as one of the best eateries in Bristol for take away deli snacks.

Owners of the poplar diner left a short note on their door saying: "Closed for refurbishment, look forward to seeing you soon."

Last year, Chandos Deli earned 'highly commended' at the Bristol Good Food Awards in the Best Express/Takeaway category, being narrowly beaten by the Athenian.
