A new round of 'surge testing', which sees public health officials invite anyone and everyone over the age of 16 to take a covid test in specific areas, has begun today in the north of Bristol.
The surge testing is happening because someone returning from Brazil and later tested positive for the new Brazil variant of covid-19 coronavirus.
Public health chiefs are particularly worried about this strain, because they don't know whether or not the vaccines already developed to prompt immunity from covid-19 will work on it.
Two cases have been discovered in the South Gloucestershire part of north Bristol, and door-to-door testing, and testing centres where tests can be picked up, completed at home, and then dropped back off.
There are five postcode areas across the north of Bristol where the surge testing is happening, and they cover pretty much the whole of the area of north Bristol that's in South Gloucesterhire, north of the ring road.
There are three specific postcodes within the BS32 code, and two more further south west in the BS34 postcode area.

Everything between the M4 and Bradley Stoke way.
BS32 8
Everything north of Winterbourne Way, around Bailey's Court and further north into the heart of Bradley Stoke
BS32 9
The rest of Bradley Stoke in BS32, over as far as the A38.
BS34 5
Everything south east of the M5, including Cribbs Causeway and the Mall, and the rest of Patchway up as far as Coniston Road.
BS34 6
The rest of Patchway and Little Stoke either side of the railway line and to the east of the A38.
