However, as normality slowly returns and non-essential shops have been allowed to reopen, we can now look forward to another highlight of the season: sales and, in particular, the Next sale.
Whenever Next have a sale, you can guarantee the branches across the UK will be full of people hoping to pick up a whole load of bargains, as Chronicle Live reports.
The high street store is famous for opening its doors at the crack of dawn so eager shoppers get some great discounts.
It's post-Christmas sales are particularly popular, but Next sales aren't just for winter and sale shoppers don't care what the season is, if there's a bargain to be had, they'll grab it.
And at big stores likes the one in Cabot Circus, they'll be prepared to queue from the early hours.
An increasingly big thing to do whenever Next have a sale is for people to sign up early and get VIP early access to discounts online, but demand is set to be high for slots once again.
And we can reveal that the Next summer sale will start on Thursday, July 2 at 5am.
Customers will be able to shop the sale online via the clearance tab on the website, as well as by visiting stores.
How to get early VIP access
Moneysavingcentral predicts the VIP slots for the summer sale allow a preview of items included.
Typically to get VIP early access to bargains online you must
- Hold a credit account with Next with at least £250 credit available
- Have placed (and kept) an order from the Next Directory this season
- Have an up-to-date email address and be registered to receive sale and promotional emails
- Have returned less than two thirds of the items you’ve ordered
You can log in to your Next account to see if you are eligible - if you are, you’ll receive an email invitation to sign up for a slot.
Tips for the Next Sales
Pick your Items in advance
With the VIP sale, you can log in up to 48 hours early via the "Next Sale Preview" link to see what they have on offer. Note down the item codes of the products you wish to purchase then you can easily log in and use the quick buy function.
Don't miss the invite
Make sure your email address and mobile phone number is up to date in your account section so that you receive the VIP invite.
Get Next Unlimited
Regular Next customers should consider getting Next Unlimited to save money on delivery charges. The deal is £20 a year and gets you unlimited next day deliveries 7 days a week. You can choose a specific time-slot and returns are also free.
Shop the clearance section
Next has a clearance section which is usually live all year round.
