This is when Killing Eve is coming back to BBCOne - and it's sooner than you think

After months of waiting, the BBC has made its second exciting TV announcement in two days by finally setting  date for the UK return of psychopath drama Killing Eve.

Starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, the BBC America show was a smash hit on both sides of the Atlantic last year and UK fans have been desperately awaiting news of the UK release date since America saw the first episodes in April.

Bristol fans of the show might have spotted the cryptic billboard on Old Market roundabout this morning, teasing the beginning of the new series.

Fans have already been tweeting pictures of the billboards from around the country, with fans being told to watch out for updates in the coming weeks as Villanelle and Eve use the posters to send one another messages in the run-up to the first episode.

Finally, in a tweet late last night, the BBC told UK viewers they can expect to see assassin Villanelle, played by Comer, back on our screens on Saturday, June 8, at 9.15pm on BBC1.

The entire second series will be released on BBC iPlayer at the same time.

Award-winning actors Jodie Comer (Best actress , British Academy Television Awards) and Sandra Oh (Best actress - television series drama, Golden Globe Awards) lead the returning cast for the second series which is written by Emerald Fennell.

Killing Eve has become a massive hit with BBC audiences with over 49 million requests for the series on BBC iPlayer so far.

The BBC announced it had acquired the rights to series three in April.

Based on the Codename Villanelle novellas by Luke Jennings, Killing Eve (8x45’) is produced by Sid Gentle Films Ltd for BBC America, financed and sold by Endeavor Content, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Sally Woodward Gentle, Lee Morris, and Gina Mingacci serving as executive producers alongside Sandra Oh as co-executive producer. Emerald Fennell is the new lead-writer and will also serve as executive producer.

Damon Thomas is executive producer and returns as director along with two new female directors, Lisa Bruhlmann and Francesca Gregorini. Elinor Day will serve as series producer.

The first series of Killing Eve is available as a boxset now on BBC iPlayer.
