This is what your Universal Credit and other benefit payment dates will be over Easter

Millions of parents across the UK will see their child benefit and tax credit payment dates change over the Easter break.

A list of the key dates for your diary has now been published by HMRC, which manages the payments.

But as the Mirror reports, it's not all bad news, as most families will receive their money earlier than usual - on the Thursday rather than Easter Friday.

Child Benefit pays £20.70 a week for the first child and £13.70 per week for subsequent children to qualifying parents.

However, if you or your partner have an income of more than £50,000 a year, you will be liable for the High Income Child Benefit charge.

This means you'll have to pay one per cent of every £100 you earn back to the Government at the end of the tax year.

Tax-credits work on a separate policy, this benefit is paid to families who need it most, such as those who need help to care for children, are disabled or have and low incomes.

There are two types of tax credit – child tax credit and working tax credit.

You might be eligible for one or both of them, depending on your circumstances.

People in receipt of Attendance Allowance, the state pension, Carer’s Allowance, Disability Living Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance, Jobseeker’s Allowance, Pension Credit and Personal Independence Payment may also receive early Easter payments.

We've run through the full changes below:

Tax credits: your payment dates

Due: Friday 19 April 2019 - Paid: Thursday 18 April

Due: Monday 22 April 2019 - Paid: Thursday 18 April

Child Benefit payment dates

Due: Monday 22 April 2019 - Paid: Thursday 18 April

What about Universal Credit payments?

Universal Credit is a single payment that is generally paid monthly, directly into an account in your name, such as a bank, building society or credit union account.

However, the date varies person-to-person based on when your assessment period ends and when you are paid by your job for people claiming in-work benefits.

The DWP told Mirror Money that if your normal payment dates are set to fall on one of the bank holidays, this is how they're changing:

Due: Friday 19 April 2019 - Paid: Thursday 18 April

Due: Monday 22 April 2019 - Paid: Thursday 18 April

What about the state pension, ESA, income support, Carer's Allowance and other benefits over Easter?

As with Universal Credit - if you are due a payment on either Easter Friday (19 April) or Easter Monday (22 April) money will come through on Thursday instead.

That applies to Attendance Allowance, the state pension, Carer’s Allowance, Disability Living Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance, Jobseeker’s Allowance, Pension Credit and Personal Independence Payments.

Due: Friday 19 April 2019 - Paid: Thursday 18 April

Due: Monday 22 April 2019 - Paid: Thursday 18 April
