This is what was left of a car that caught fire on an M4 slip road

This was what was left of a car after a fire caused long delays on the M4 heading to Cardiff.

The blaze happened at the busy junction 33 for Cardiff west services early on Tuesday morning.

A commuter saw the car moments after it burst into flames just after 7am.

It meant the eastbound exit slip road had to be closed for a time to allow fire crews to deal with the blaze.

The closure led to a build-up of traffic and congestion on the motorway between Miskin and Cardiff during the morning rush hour.

Later, Traffic Wales, which monitors the motorway, tweeted pictures of the aftermath of the blaze.

No-one was injured and the slip road had re-opened by 9am.
