This is what Warren Gatland's next job in rugby is as he departs Wales

With so much emphasis on his departure from Wales the news that Warren Gatland already has his next job in rugby lined up may have gone under the radar.

After 12-years in charge of Wales the Kiwi will return to his native New Zealand to take charge of the Waikato Chiefs or Gallagher Chiefs as they are now known for sponsorship reasons.

The Hamilton-based side are in the middle of a six-year barren spell in Super Rugby.

No fewer than seven Chiefs players lined up against Wales on Friday.

They were Nepo Laulala, Brodie Retallick, Sam Cane, Atu Moli, Angus Ta'avao, Brad Weber and Anton Lienert-Brown.

After his appointment was announced, Gatland said: "I am really excited about the opportunity to come back home.

"The opportunity to come back as head coach of the Chiefs is something that I am really looking forward to.

"The Chiefs are well known for the success they've had both on and off the field and the really loyal support they have from everyone within the Chiefs region."

But before that Gatland will coach the Barbarians against Wales in Cardiff on November 30, in what will be new head coach Wayne Pivac's first match.

He will of course also take charge of the British and Irish Lions tour to South Africa in 2021.
