This is what the weather will be like for the Simplyhealth Bristol 10k 2019

Thousands of runners are set to take to the streets of Bristol on Sunday (May 5) for the Simplyhealth Bristol 10k.

The annual event is one of the highlights of the city's racing calendar not just for competitors but spectators as well.

And thankfully this year people will be able to keep dry as they watch or take part in the race.

The wheelchair race kicks off the event at 9.15am, followed by the first wave of runners at 9.30am.

Met Office weather forecast for the Bristol 10K on Sunday, May 5 (Met Office)

According to the Met Office the best sunshine will be in the morning, before it starts to cloud over from 10am.

That means that most of the runners will be starting their race in the sun - so don't forget to apply sun cream as the UV index is medium.

However there is expected to be a light breeze throughout the day so hopefully it won't be too uncomfortable for runners.

Temperatures are expected to be around seven degrees at the start of the race and rise to around 12 degrees by mid-afternoon.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "After a cold start, a largely dry day is expected on Sunday with further spells of strong May sunshine. Perhaps the odd light shower during the afternoon across more eastern counties. Maximum temperature 14 °C."
