This is what the 'Saved by the Bell' pop-up will look like

May 13--Saved by the Max, the "Saved by the Bell" pop-up coming to Wicker Park in June, is shaping up to be a pretty spot-on replica of the diner on the '90s teen sitcom.

Organizers shared the above rendering of what the restaurant takeover will look like. From the payphone to the jukebox, the attention to detail looks sharp. We don't see the center booth that Zack and gang piled into every day after school, but close enough.

Other news released this week: Former Schwa chef de cuisine Brian Fisher, who left the Michelin-star restaurant in December, will lead the kitchen at Saved by the Max.

Fisher will serve dishes named after characters on the show, including Tori's Fried Chicken, a Goose Island 312 beer-battered Korean fried chicken on a roasted scallion waffle with spiced syrup; A.C. Sliders with pulled pork and Jameson BBQ sauce; and Mac Screech mac cheese.

A second round of seats, available through Tock, was added to the run, so the pop-up will now run from June 1 to August 31 at SFCO (formerly Geek Bar) in Wicker Park. Brunch and late-night service will be walk-in only.

The Chicago pop-up is officially partners with NBCUniversal Brand Development Group but was created by Derek Berry, events coordinator at Beauty Bar Chicago. Pop-up organizers are still finalizing details for any cast appearances.
