This is what the harbourside looked like on bank holiday Friday

Crowds of people could be seen enjoying the good weather in the Harbourside on Friday afternoon (May 8).

With temperatures set to soar this Bank Holiday weekend, police have urged the public to comply with the current lockdown restrictions.

However, many people went down to the Harbourside area of the city anyway, with a bar in the area also reopening as a takeaway service.

Broken Dock said in a statement that, after various visits to the bar to carry out gardening works on the seating planters, they were approached many times by passers by asking for takeaway food and drinks.

The bar said it approached the plan "responsibly", with markers on the queue and signs asking people to maintain their two meter distance.

The statement said social distancing was being observed with very few exceptions, adding if they witnessed people hanging around for too long they asked them to move on.

However, several people took to social media to discuss the bar's reopening, with one saying people were queuing for drinks.

On Saturday morning, the area was looking quieter when visited by Bristol Live.

A Bristol police officer revealed on Friday the hotspots for lockdown breaches.

PC Ashley Tucker says St George's Park in Whitehall, Castle Park in the city centre and Clifton Down are the places he is most often seeing social distancing restrictions broken amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Of those, the 28-year-old revealed St George Park, off Church Road, is the biggest hotspot, even after Bristol City Council closed the car park entrance last month to stop people flouting rules there.

Avon and Somerset police have handed out 304 fines to people ignoring restrictions – 120 of them in Bristol – as of May 8.

The force has recorded 18,615 incidents of suspected breaches.
