This is what's causing traffic around Denton Island this evening

A flaming caravan caused long delays around Denton Island.

Firefighters were scrambled to the A57 Manchester Road to deal with the blaze on Thursday evening (August 1).

Traffic quickly built up in the area as crews tackled the fire.

Smoke was seen billowing across the nearby M60.

A firefighter was seen directing traffic as commuters made their way home.

There are no reports of injuries.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: "We were called at around 8.05pm to a caravan on fire on the A57.

"Crews from Stockport and Whitehill stations attending. Crews using breathing apparatus and hole reels are dealing with the fire.

"There are no reports of injuries."
