This is what now needs to happen for Cardiff City to survive as relegation picture becomes crystal clear

Cardiff City must win their final two matches to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

The Bluebirds' 1-0 defeat at Fulham left them on the brink of the drop as a Brighton victory against Newcastle in the evening kick-off would have ended their hopes of avoiding a return to the Championship.

Ayoze Perez's first-half goal for the Geordies looked to have given Cardiff a lifeline, but Pascal Groß's 75th minute equaliser has left the Bluebirds in a perilous position, with the game finishing 1-1 at the Amex.

Why Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock refused to pick Josh Murphy for must-win Fulham clash

The Cardiff City player ratings as toothless forward line cost Bluebirds in horrendous Fulham defeat

Cardiff are four points behind Brighton heading into the final two matches, but an inferior goal difference of -14 means they now need to beat both Crystal Palace and Manchester United. They also need Brighton to pick up no more than a point from their remaining fixtures away at Arsenal and at home to Man City.

If the Bluebirds manage to beat Crystal Palace at home next weekend, they will travel to Old Trafford on the final day knowing a victory may well be enough as long as Brighton don't beat Arsenal in their next match.

You can see how all today's drama unfolded here.

Cardiff are on 31 points, while Brighton are now on 35.
