Nottingham Forest ace Joe Lolley has responded after being tagged in a tweet about Aston Villa reportedly preparing a £10m bid for him.
The winger is said to be a target for Dean Smith’s newly-promoted side ahead of their return to the Premier League, with his fantastic form for the Reds having caught the eye.
A boyhood Villa fan, Lolley has been linked with a move to the club before, but signed a new long-term deal at the City Ground back in February.
When rumours of the West Midlands club’s interest in the 26-year-old circulated earlier this year, a parody Twitter account wrote: “All this rubbish on me going to Villa in the summer… like it or not, I’m staying with this amazing club. I’ve not penned a 4 year deal for the craic #NFFC #AVFC.”
And with the latest development, one Forest fan took a screenshot of that particular tweet, this time copying Lolley’s official account in, saying: “Why do media lie, @JLolley23 won’t go he’s not a snake, he’s stated that here. Why would he go when he’s becoming a club legend. That’s for the reassurance though, he’s here to stay.”
With reference to the screenshot of the old tweet, Lolley replied: “That is a parody account to be fair.”
In response to another reply, he added: “To be fair the odd person does tag me in stuff like that and it does annoy me.. I would say up there with one of the worst/pointless accounts of all time. If I’m not boring enough as it is…”
