This is what it's like inside SC2 - the new Rhyl Sun Centre

The final touches to Wales’ brand new £15 million leisure attraction are being made as SC2 nears opening.

SC2 will be Rhyl’s answer to the much loved Sun Centre, which was demolished back in 2016.

However although the water park and adventure centre are sure to evoke memories of school holidays spent in Rhyl Sun Centre, council officials have said the SC2 acronym does not stand for Sun Centre 2.

Expected to open this Spring, at the start of April, it is estimated that the park will attract an extra 35,000 visitors to the area each year, while 65 new jobs are also being created for the attraction.

SC2 will feature a water park with both indoor and outdoor pools water play and an interactive multi-level activity zone - TAGactive.

Inside the water park area, families will find flumes, beach style padding pools, an indoor and outdoor terrace with sun loungers and a cafe.

The SC2 website reads: “At SC2 we have something for every visitor, whether you’re a thrill seeker, a paddler or just want to put your feet up and relax.

(Daily Post Wales)

“The main waterpark area is suitable for all ages and abilities and children will be able to explore and enjoy water at their own pace.

“The water confidence area graduates from 00mm to 300mm and is perfect for parents and toddlers to enjoy a paddle and a splash about.

(Daily Post Wales)

“In this colourful, watery environment, younger children will be able to develop their confidence before moving on to the bigger splash features.”

TAGactive is a timed activity zone that is designed to test children’s "skill, fitness and bravery".
