This is what is going to happen to the closed Lidl store in Swansea's Parc Tawe

A new store will soon be opening in the former Lidl in Swansea 's Parc Tawe.

In early 2019, the German discount supermarket chain decided to leave the 10,000 square ft unit in Parc Tawe North and move next door into the former Homebase.

The unit has since remained empty for the last five months, with no sign of another business moving in.

It has now been announced that the frozen food supermarket chain Farmfoods will be taking its place very soon.

The company, which has over 300 stores throughout the UK, will be opening its doors in the retail park at 8am on Friday, June 19 .

A spokesman for Farmfoods confirmed that the new store will create between 15 and 20 new jobs.

The supermarket joins the likes of The Food Warehouse by Iceland and, of course, Lidl at the retail park.

Farmfoods already has stores in Llansamlet and Gorseinon, as well as Llanelli.

In addition to frozen food, the supermarket also offers groceries, chilled foods, bread, milk, fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as a range of household items.
