It is one of those songs that really is the gift that just keeps on giving, especially after you've had a few, and Sweet Caroline has become the unofficial anthem on Stack in Newcastle.
The Neil Diamond classic is a serious tune in the eyes of many people, whether they're in Cosy Joe's, at the darts at the arena or indeed at Stack, and there is something about the lead up to the chorus and the chorus itself that seem to have super human powers when it comes to getting people to sing along.
It is a firm favourite with both the organisers and audiences of Kroud Karaoke , the monthly karaoke night at Stack on Pilgrim Street, but it doesn't even need to be a karaoke night for people to go absolutely mental when it comes.
We walked into Stack on Saturday night, just as the song was coming and as you can see from the video above, it got quite the reaction with people standing on benches, others holding their hands aloft and others just happily belting it out with real gusto!
Altogether now....hands....touching hands....reaching out....touching me, touching youuuuu!
Sweet Caroline will no doubt get an airing and a similarly mental response when takes place at Stack on Saturday, October 26.
Entry is free but with the last event seeing people queuing up for ages to get in you're advised to get there early!
