'This is tragic'- The Chase’s ‘worse contestant ever’ becomes hero after scoring 0 and scooping jackpot

The Chase's 'worst ever' contestant has won huge support across the nation after scoring no points but still taking home prize money.

Contestant Bhagwan managed to walk away with his share of £12,000 despite failing to bring any money home for his team.

In both the cashbuilder round and the head to head with Chaser Anne Hegarty, where The Governess offered him £3,000, £0 or £64,000, Bhagwan scored a big fat zero, reports Manchester Evening News.

In his own words, he admitted: “This is tragic”.

Bhagwan's teammates Paul and Laura had racked up £12,000 in their rounds and went into the final chase along with Bhagwan.

During the final round on the ITV quiz show,  he managed to redeem his losing streak by answering three questions correctly.

They got 20 questions right in total, meaning Anne had a tough final chase ahead of her.

And they beat The Governess with three questions left to spare after successfully executing two pushbacks, each walking away with £4,000.

Anne said: "I didn’t do anything wrong except I was just too slow.

“Well done. Enjoy the money.”

Some viewers were mortified with the outcome, while others were delighted and praised Bhagwan for his performance.

One tweeted: “Bhagwan’s played an absolute blinder there. £0 in his cashbuilder but got himself into the final chase.

“Strong teamwork leaves The Governess 3 adrift at the final buzzer and the team walk away with a healthy £4K each. You couldn’t write it.”

A second said: “Well played team.  I'm a Bhagwan Fan!”

A third posted: “Bhagwan is an absolute hero.”

A fourth “To be fair, if Bagwhan didn’t get back, they wouldn’t have won. He got 2 correct in the final chase and added and extra step for getting back. They won by 3 steps.”

Another added: “Bhagwan is the real winner here, got no questions right, brought no money to the prize pot, did f*ck all, and won £4000.”

The Chase airs weekdays from 5pm on ITV.
