This is the tackle that left Liverpool players raging and youngster Yasser Larouci on crutches

Liverpool's friendly defeat to Sevilla was marred by a disgraceful challenge on youngster Yasser Larouci.

Sevilla's Joris Gnagnon was given a red card for a brutal challenge on the 18-year-old full-back 14 minutes from time of the 2-1 defeat in Boston .

Larouci left Fenway Park on crutches following the incident and Liverpool players Virgil van Dijk and Jordan Henderson rushed to confront Gnagnon at full-time.

Speaking afterwards , Van Dijk said: "I saw it from the side and it's not nice.

"Especially when it happens against a young guy who is playing pretty well this season, it’s not great to see.

"I think it says something about him (Gnagnon)."

Gnagnon would later make a statement apologising for the incident , admitting it was an "odious" act.

"I would like to apologise publicly to the player and to Liverpool,” he tweeted.

“The foul was an odious act the likes of which should never be seen on a football pitch.

"My prayers go to the player and to his family.”
