This is the moment a man started shouting anti-EU statements at teenage protesters

A man had to be led away by police after shouting anti EU statements at a group of teenage protesters as they marched through Bristol city centre.

School pupils and students took to the streets of Bristol on Friday (May 24) in a mass protest demanding more action on climate change and against Bristol Airport’s expansion plans.

It was part of co-ordinated global action which will see more than a million children from around the world walk out of school to strike for more action on climate change.

The demonstration began on College Green outside City Hall around 11am before the hundreds of young people began a march through the city centre.

But as the youngsters walked along Baldwin Street a man approached the protesters and began shouting anti EU statements and swearing at the crowd of people.

A video of the incident shows him calling the "traitors" for "selling themselves to the EU".

Zoë Crowther, 21, who filmed the video, said he was shouting and swearing and pointing at the marchers in an "aggressive" manner.

She added: "The kids started booing the man and he got increasingly aggressive.

"The stewards were clearly trying to calm the situation down. The man then went into the crowd of protesters as they continued to walk along the street, and asked one of the children for their sign before snapping it in two and throwing it to the ground.

"The police arrived and removed him from the scene."

Police were aware of the demonstration taking place on Friday and were already on the scene.

It is not believed that anyone was arrested as a result of the incident.
