This is the man who died in horror Mercedes crash

A man who died in a horror crash in Leigh has been named locally as Mark Taylor.

Police were called to reports a Mercedes A200 had driven straight over a roundabout and into some trees at around 11pm on Saturday (August 22).

The vehicle had been driving along on the East Lancs Road before approaching a roundabout at the junction of Warrington Road, known locally as the Greyhound roundabout.

Mr Taylor, 30, who was a passenger in the car at the time, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

A 29-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

GMP are now asking anyone with any information or video footage to get in touch with police.

Bolton Coroners' Court has been handed a file.

Police Constable Karl Horner, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this dreadful time.

"They are being supported by specialist officers while our investigations continue.

"It’s vital that anyone with information, who witnessed the crash or saw the car prior to the collision gets in touch.

"We would also ask that anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage that can assist us contact police."

Anyone with information can call police on 0161 856 4741 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
