This is the traffic diversion in place following fatal crash on M5 in Gloucestershire

The M5 in Gloucestershire is still closed due to an earlier fatal crash.

Gloucestershire Police were called to the incident on the northbound of the motorway between J12 (Gloucester, A38) and J11A (Cirencester, A417) at 8.10am.

The closure was originally meant to be in place until 3pm today, but this has now been extended to 5pm.

Traffic is being diverted.

The diversion

Motorists are being advised to leave the M5 northbound at J13 and take the B4008 link to the A38.

At the roundabout, the advice is to take the exit onto the A38 northbound and then continue on the A38 northbound for just over 5 miles (merging to the A430), to the junction with the A40.

At the next roundabout, motorists are advised to take the third exit onto the A40 eastbound and continue on the A40 for approximately 5 miles, to the junction with the M5 at J11.

At the roundabout, take the first exit to rejoin the M5 northbound, or travel southbound to J11A to use the A417.

Traffic from further afield may wish to consider using the M4 eastbound from the M5 (to J15), then the A419 and A417 northbound.
