This is the 'disgraceful' state of Salford apartment according to man who lives there

A resident has slammed his Salford apartment block as 'disgraceful' and shared images of the 'shocking' state the flats are in.

Photos shared with MySalford and Manchester Evening News appear to show holes in the walls, poor plastering and exposed wires at Canon Green Court in Blackfriars.

The complex is run by Salford-based housing provider Salix Homes and contractors Willmott Dixon are currently carrying out improvement work at the site.

One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said problems have piled up since he first moved into the flat.

He said: "Salix are very public in their PR of how much investment they are making into Salford but the poor residents are left with flats in a shocking state. The work is disgraceful.

"There's a hole by the door, holes in the floor. They’ve installed false ceilings over old wallpaper, there's plumbing issues. I even got a notice from British Gas saying my electrics were unsafe when I switched suppliers."

The man claims that one man took matters into his own hands and protested outside Salix's head office in Peel Cross Road.

"I don't blame him," the man added.

"He's not on his own either, lots of residents have had enough. Some of these residents are elderly and don’t have a voice.

"The management is terrible, the complaints process is cumbersome, and the repairs procedure deathly slow. It’s a mess and no one seems to be accountable.

"Willmott Dixon blame Salix, Salix blame Wilmott Dixon. It’s a disgrace."

Sue Sutton at Salix Homes said that 'major improvement work' is currently taking place and asked any unhappy residents to get in touch

She said: “We are currently undertaking major improvement work at Canon Green Court through our contractor partner Willmott Dixon.

"If any customers have individual concerns relating to their property we would encourage them to contact us.”

A spokesman for Willmott Dixon said that they did not wish to add anything more to Salix Homes' comment.
