Booking your holiday at the right time could save you hundreds of pounds.
With schools about to break up for the summer holiday , many families will be on looking for a last-minute getaway.
But booking your holiday for a particular week could be extremely cost-effective.
Travel experts at Skyscanner have crunched the numbers to find the cheapest week for families to travel to some of the popular destinations, reports Wales Online.
They found that Spanish resort-town Alicante is cheapest to visit the week of August 11, but for travellers looking to go further afield, Orlando should be booked for the first week in August.
Lisa Tyndall, senior growth manager of Skyscanner says: “As the summer school holidays commence many parents are still on the lookout for that bargain break in the sun.
"Where to go, when to book and when to travel are questions most travellers ask.
"For parents who are flexible on when they travel this August we have trawled through our comprehensive flight and hotel data to uncover when’s the cheapest week to go to some of the key destinations during the school summer holidays.
"In addition there are other great hacks to help travellers get a good flight deal.
"By considering flying out of a different airport to save money, for example those in the north of England might find that it’s cheaper to travel to a Scottish airport to get a cheaper flight to their destination as the Scottish school holidays are different to the English schools’ and flight prices are likely to be cheaper out of Scotland.
"It’s also worth considering booking two single flights rather than a return flight with the same airline.”
