This is Nottingham's best pub for cider according to CAMRA

Castle Rock's brewery tap, the Vat and Fiddle, has been crowned Nottingham CAMRA's cider pub of the year.

In a closely fought competition against 14 other nominated establishments, the Vat came top for "its breadth of choice, quality, and presentation."

Nottingham CAMRA's cider and perry officer, Ray Blockley, paid tribute to manager Louise Carlin and her staff for their interest in real cider.

"So often a pub will have loads of different brands on sale, but only a limited range of styles. Louise actually goes out of her way to find and source those that are different.

"And these come from across the range of fruit and full juice varieties from the local area and from the best presses that other regions have to offer," he added.

Louise said a lot of effort had gone into sourcing and expanding the cider range over the last 12 months with a focus on supporting local producers.

Drinkers can sup ciders such as Blue Barrel's Clifton Beauty and Colwick Perry and Tumpy Ground from Once Upon a Tree at the pub in Queensbridge Road.

In their deliberations, the CAMRA five-member judging panel visited pubs unannounced.
