'This is not right' - Jamie Carragher responds to Gini Wijnaldum claim over Liverpool exit

Jamie Carragher has hit back at comments made by Gini Wijnaldum over his Liverpool exit.

Wijnaldum left the Reds earlier in the summer after five years at Anfield to sign for Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent.

For months there was speculation surrounding whether or not Wijnaldum would put pen to paper on fresh terms to keep him on Merseyside.

In the end Wijnaldum called time on his Liverpool career, finishing with 237 appearances to his name and four major trophies.

Wijnaldum has revealed that he 'didn't feel love' from a section of the fan-base during his final two seasons.

“Every day in training and in the game I gave everything,” Wijnaldum told The Times .

“Liverpool meant so much to me. There were some moments when I didn’t feel love and appreciated there.

“Not by my teammates, not the people at Melwood. I know they all loved me and I loved them. It was not from that side, more from the other side.

“There was a moment when I didn’t feel loved. In the last two seasons, I had it a few times.

"The media didn’t help. There was a story like I didn’t accept the [Liverpool] offer because I wanted more money, and the fans made it like ‘OK, he didn’t get the offer so he doesn’t try his best to win games.’ Everything looked like it was against me.

"Some moments it was like, ‘Wow, me again?’"

But Carragher hit back at these claims by Wijnaldum, claiming what the Dutchman says “is not right”.

Carragher wrote on Twitter: “I love Gini but this is not right, social media is a circus and every club has clowns.

“Turn off your notifications & if it’s bothering you that much, delete the app!

“He wanted more money [and] the club said no, that’s football!”
