This is not a drill. Klay Thompson is back on the court shooting 3-pointers and it’s glorious.

Golden State Warriors superstar sharpshooter Klay Thompson has not played an NBA game since June 13, 2019. But he is nearing a return.

Thompson, who is recovering from a torn ACL and ruptured Achilles tendon, was recently cleared to return to basketball activities. As part of his rehab, he was assigned to play in the G League for the Santa Cruz Warriors.

So as Thompson gets closer to game action in the NBA, we are going to start seeing more and more highlights of him getting back in the swing of things.

During a scrimmage for Santa Cruz on Tuesday afternoon, Thompson was able to show off his beautiful jump shot and hit a game-winning 3-pointer.

It will obviously take some time for Thompson to shake off the rust and get back into the high speeds and intensity of an NBA game. But for those of us like me who missed watching the incredible shooter take the floor, it was a refreshing sight to watch him do his thing.

The Warriors, who were the No. 1 overall team in our recent power rankings, will have an embarrassment of riches and an abundance of talent when Thompson returns if he is even close to the player that he was before the injuries.
