This is just how dirty money gets as 35 years of grime is scrubbed off coin

A cleaning expert has shown just how dirty money can get after scrubbing 35 years worth of grime off a gold coin.

We wash our hands everyday to get rid of germs, but most of us don't consider how much bugs and bacteria is lurking on our cash.

Tik Tok user Clean Coins restores old pennies to their former glory in incredible transformations.

A clip shows a gold coin blackened with grime, which he claims is one of the "dirtiest coin he has ever cleaned".

The Australian one-dollar coin, which dates back to 1985, is encrusted in almost 35 years worth of muck.

The cleaning expert used a cotton bud and numerous coats of polish and scrubbed away layers upon layers of grot.

The polish even turned black from all the dirt and grime that had collected on the coin over the years.

The end result was certainly worth it, as the grotty coin turned sparkly gold as if brand new.

Tik Tok users were impressed with the video, which has racked up more than 12,000 likes.

One person commented: "Why was this so satisfying?"

Another wrote: "I have a sudden urge to clean all my coins now".

One user joked: "The biggest transformation of 2020".
