This is it for ‘This Is Us,’ acclaimed drama series ending with sixth season

It looks like this is the end for “This Is Us.”

NBC’s Peabody Award-winning family drama is coming to a conclusion with the upcoming sixth season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, producers had long planned to close out the show’s run during the 2021-22 broadcast season. In 2019, when the network renewed the Dan Fogelman-created series for three seasons, sources told the outlet that season six would likely be the last.

The network hasn’t confirmed the report but does plan to reveal its fall 2021 schedule on Friday.

“This Is Us,” which spans the decades following the Pearson family from the 1980s to the present, stars Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore as Jack and Rebecca Pearson, respectively; and Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz and Sterling K. Brown play their adult children.

East New York, Brooklyn’s very own Susan Kelechi Watson has won raves for her portrayal as Brown’s wife, Beth Pearson.

Brown, who plays adopted son Randall, made history in 2018 when he became the first Black man to win best actor in a drama at both the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild awards.

The St. Louis native won an Emmy in 2017 for his work in the series, which has earned a trio of nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, as well as acting nominations for Ventimiglia, Metz, Moore, and Chris Sullivan, who plays Metz’s husband.

Additionally, Ron Cephas Jones earned a pair of Emmy trophies for guest roles on the show, in 2018 and 2020.
