'This is incredibly important', Amanda Staveley's message about Newcastle United's head coach position

Newcastle United director Amanda Staveley says that a decision on the managerial situation at St James' Park is "incredibly important".

Head coach Steve Bruce has met the new owners but it remains to be seen whether he is in the dugout against Tottenham Hotspur for what is now a sell out game on October 17.

Bruce vowed to fight on as boss but accepted he may not be part of the new regime's plans.

When asked the big question fans were asking, the Ripon financier told Chronicle Live: "Everyone is asking about the manager.

"Look, we appreciate this is incredibly important but right now we need to come in and talk to the team, what the club needs now and where we want to go.

"We'll come back to you with all those answers in the fullness of time."

Staveley was shown around the ground today at St James' Park and met some fans outside the stadium.

The businesswoman said supporters are integral to their plans moving forward.

Staveley added: "I want this to be an open dialogue.

"It's not my club, it's not PIF's club, we're just here to help build this club.

"The fans own this club as far as we're concerned.

"The communication links - there'll be an emphasis on an open dialogue and making sure we communicate all the time."
