A viral TikTok video is making people reconsider buying cheap pizza from Little Caesars after an employee showed how the sauce is allegedly made. The video has gotten over 4 million views and shows a worker in what looks like a commercial kitchen standing over a large bucket on the floor. The worker, identified as @michiganmdn, pours seasoning into the container and stirs it with a giant metal whisk.
According to BroBible, The worker added a caption that shocked viewers, saying, “This is how we make the sauce that y’all love by The bathroom.” He then warned people, “Don’t ever eat Little Caesars pizza again.” The video has sparked concerns about food safety practices at some Little Caesars locations. This raises questions about what management taught the worker to do.
In Georgia, where the worker claims to be located in his TikTok video, food service rules are very clear about how to prepare food. The rules say that all materials and food must be kept in a clean, dry place. The ingredients cannot be “exposed to splash, dust, or other contamination,” and they must be at least six inches above the floor. Making sauce directly on the ground, even in a container, breaks all three of these rules.
This preparation method breaks serious health and safety rules
If a health inspector found a location doing this, the store could face mandatory food safety courses, heavy fines, or even closure. Little Caesars has always said that its sauce is made from “fresh-packed, vine-ripened California crushed tomatoes.” Mixing those tomatoes on a dirty floor is definitely not what the company describes. This isn’t the first food quality concern the chain has faced, as customers have previously questioned what’s really in their products.
This is not the first time the chain has dealt with this problem. In 2021, another worker posted a similar video showing sauce being made in containers on the floor, and that employee was fired. Multiple videos from 2020 and 2021 also show the floor method being used at different locations.
However, other employees have posted videos showing the sauce being made in much cleaner places, like on counters or in the kitchen sink. This suggests that while some locations cut corners in disgusting ways, others follow proper health and safety rules. The viral nature of these workplace videos reflects TikTok’s ongoing fascination with exposing unexpected behind-the-scenes content.
Viewers had very different reactions to the video. One commenter said, “Im a manager and we dont even play like that
.” Another wrote, “No wonder my stomach act up everytime I get this pizza and feel the sauce next morning.” Someone else pointed out, “You could just do your job and move it 3 feet into the kitchen.”
