How Much Are the Celebrity Traitors Earning to Star In the UK Show?

The Traitors UK winner clue.

Celebrity Traitors UK is almost here, with the BBC confirming that the show will air in just a few short weeks. It's guaranteed to be a huge hit considering the enormous success of The Traitors in recent years - and truly, we cannot wait. Announcing that The Celebrity Traitors will launch in October, a new teaser clip was released this past weekend during Strictly Come Dancing and we now know that all those famous faces - including the likes of Paloma Faith, Alan Carr and Stephen Fry - will be begin battling it out to win the cash prize on Wednesday 8th October via BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

However, one question that has resurfaced in the wake of the update is just how much the contestants on The Celebrity Traitors UK will be paid. Earlier this year, columnist Marina Hyde spoke about how much money each celebrity could stand to earn during an episode of her podcast, The Rest Is Entertainment. She explained: "It’s certainly interesting to compare something like Celebrity Traitors on the BBC to I’m a Celebrity on ITV. Although we haven’t seen the celebrity iteration yet, but we know it’s gonna be massive. Look at the calibre of the people they got."

The winner of the series could win £100,000 for a charity of their choice - but that's not all it takes to get a famous face to participate in a TV show like this one. "For that, they were able to pay everybody a blanket 40k fee, right?" Marina says to her co-host, Richard Osman, on the podcast episode (which aired in July). "I am spilling all my tea today. They’re paying them a 40k fee."

Filming only lasted a handful of weeks, so £40,000 is a rather handsome paycheque. But with that in mind, as Marina mentioned, I'm a Celeb pays its contestants an incomparably larger amount. According to The Independent, Coleen Rooney made over £1.5 million for her appearance on the series, while Nigel Farage made exactly £1.5 million. Caitlyn Jenner and Harry Redknapp reportedly each made half a million from the show.
