This is how much money Love Island finalists make on Instagram

According to research from thinkmoney , the average Love Island finalist will earn an average of £296,400 per month, which they make from various sponsorships and brand deals.

In comparison, the average 18-24 year old earns £1,655 per month which is just 0.56% of a Love Island finalist's wage.

Thinkmoney's research also revealed that you don't have to win the show in order to make the most money.

Molly-Mae Hague was a runner-up but she earns £101,080 more than the winner, Amber Gill, per month.

This also applies to clothing collaborations as 26% bought an item from the Molly-Mae x Pretty Little Thing collection; but o nly 9% bought an item from the Amber Gill x MissPap collection.

How influential are reality TV stars?

Despite their social media presence, reality TV stars were found to be the least influential as only 18% of young Brits said they influenced them.

YouTubers (26%), actors (28%) and models (28%) all ranked higher than the likes of Love Island finalists.

Young people said they are more likely to buy clothes and items if they are advertised by these celebrities.

Belynder Walia, a qualified psychotherapist and mindfulness coach, said: “It is easy to aspire to someone who is popular and, ultimately, we want to be part of the life of the influencer.

"I do believe more brands will work with them, as they are, quite literally, doing the marketing and consumer testing in one go, as well as creating the content and selling the brand."
