This is how much Irn Bru is drank in Scotland over the festive season

December is finally upon us and with it comes the festive season.

And while you'd think that the drink of choice for this time of year would be a glass of bubbles or even a wee mug of eggnog, in actual fact, it's the same as all year round: Irn Bru.

New research has shown that Scottish people gulp down more than 2.5million cans over the festive season, with 1 in 10 Scots drinking between 10 and 100 cans.

The findings were announced alongside the revelation of IRN-BRU's new campaign, Bibbidy Bobbidy Bru, fronted by the one and only Drag Race UK series two winner Lawrence Chaney.

In her new role as the people’s Fairy Godmaw, IRN-BRU has tasked Chaney with using her special magic wand to grant people’s Christmas wishes.

The survey also revealed that while Scots love the festive season, there’s some pet peeves that they’d like to put on the naughty list, and Christmas wishes they’d love to have granted.

51% say that overdone turkeys are their biggest no-no, followed by TV re-runs 31% and Christmas music 24%. One in four wish for the whole family to be together, one in five want to go on holiday instead – while some say they simply wish for unlimited IRN-BRU…

Scots are invited to send in their Christmas wishes in to IRN-BRU on Twitter, Instagram or TikTok using #BibbidyBobbidyBru. The Fairy Godmaw will send some of IRN-BRU’s special festive packs to make sure it’s the most wonderful time of the year for as many people as possible*. But - don’t forget to ‘look behind you’ because some deliveries will be EXTRA magical.

Adrian Troy, Marketing Director at AG BARR, said: As panto season kicks off, it felt right for IRN-BRU to work with Lawrence - one of the best dames in the business - to spread a bit of festive spirit across the nation. We can’t wait for everyone to get a taste of the magical mayhem that our very own Fairy Godmaw will cause as she brings BRU to the Christmas dinner tables of Scotland.”
