A total of 35,862 people across Nottinghamshire are now on Universal Credit.
The controversial benefit system was rolled out last year across Nottinghamshire, starting with Newark and Sherwood district council in May, followed by the remaining local authorities in the autumn months.
The current claimants are largely new people signing up to the scheme are not part of the large migration to Universal Credit by benefit claimants.
The initiative was first introduced in 2013 and was intended to replace six “legacy” benefits, including unemployment benefit, tax credits and housing benefit, into one monthly payment.

It was supposed to be implemented across the UK by 2017, but difficulties with its roll out, which has included claimants missing payments, means the full roll-out is behind schedule.
