This is how Liverpool's Champions League final preparations could shape up

For the second successive season, Jurgen Klopp will lead his Liverpool players out for a Champions League final.

Twelve months on from a trip to Ukraine for a meeting with Real Madrid, Klopp's Reds are again poised to play a part in the biggest game in club football.

This time, it is Tottenham Hotspur who await them in Madrid after a truly stunning few days of football helped set up an all-English final in Europe's premier competition.

Liverpool, of course, reached the June 1 showpiece by producing arguably the most memorable fightback in Anfield history on Tuesday night.

Trailing the vaunted Barcelona side 3-0 from the first leg at Camp Nou, Klopp's men attempted the seemingly impossible and did so without the influence of Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

Two goals apiece from Divock Origi and Gini Wijnaldum sent Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and co packing as the Reds turned around the tie with a result that simply defied logic.

With a Premier League title still up for grabs this Sunday at home to Wolves, plans for the pre-match Champions League final buildup are yet to be released.

It's full steam ahead and all systems go for the potential title-clinching clash this Sunday, meaning the Champions League final temporarily takes a back seat.

Once the dust settles on wherever Liverpool land on Sunday evening however, attention will gradually turn towards Madrid at the beginning of next month.

It's a second shot at a sixth European Cup in just over a year for this emerging Liverpool team. A side that can now lay claim to being one of Europe's very best.

It's been claimed that the Reds are pencilled in to head to Marbella for a 10-day training camp later this month, however those plans are yet to be finalised and confirmed by Anfield officials.

Previous years may offer a clue as to how Klopp might approach his third European final as Reds boss, however.

Last year, Klopp granted his players two days off after the final game of the Premier League season.

The squad were granted 48 hours of down-time after a 4-0 win over Brighton on Sunday May 14 before they flew out to Marbella on May 17.

That trip gave them four days to focus and prepare on the impending meeting with Los Blancos, with Klopp keen to offer his charges a change of scenery ahead of the biggest European fixture for the club since 2007.

Tactical work was undertaken as the Reds made full use of the top-class facilities, while the German was keen to harness and build on a team spirit he so evidently places much emphasis on.

Klopp has regularly used breaks and gaps in the often jam-packed fixture schedules to jet out to warm-weather training camps during his three-and-a-half years on Merseyside.

Tenerife, La Manga and Dubai have all previously been visited to and it is likely that the Reds boss will again fly out ahead of a meeting with Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs in the Spanish capital.

With a 20-day break between the Premier League curtain closer with Wolves and clash with Spurs, Klopp is expected to give his squad some well-earned time off.

It will offer his players a chance to recharge their batteries after a punishing schedule that has accompanied their fight on two fronts over the past few weeks.
