A Toronto woman shares her disgust after finding a foreign substance in her Alani Witch’s Brew energy drink. However, she says that the brand’s response to her discovery was even more alarming.
In a video with over 24,000 views, TikToker Raesha (@raeshaaaa) calls out Alani, showing a picture of a light green, gelatinous substance that was in the energy drink can.
“The team is well aware of this, and they are choosing not to recall the batch,” she claims. In the comments, she shares the can’s lot number, CMN32517414:3, and expiration date, June 23, 2027.
Why won’t Alani recall the Witch’s Brew batch?
Raesha says that she purchased the can on Sept. 6 and emailed Alani pictures of the substance, the barcode number, and the lot number. However, she didn’t receive a reply until Sept. 11.
“They did not reply with a solution. They did not reply to tell me they’d be recalling the batch,” she says. Instead, she says the brand refuses to start an investigation unless she can provide a picture of the barcode, despite sending over the barcode number in her first email.
“I find this to be rather dismissive. I provided all necessary information as well as the two photos I have shown on here,” she says. “They tried to deflect responsibility. This is a potential food safety risk.”
The foreign substance isn’t the only issue customers have with Alani’s new Witch’s Brew. On Reddit, some claim to experience “stroke-like” symptoms, nausea, and chest tightness. Many say they haven’t had issues with any other Alani flavor and urge the brand to recall the product.
At the time of publication, Alani has not issued a recall of the Witch’s Brew energy drink.
What do customers think of the TikToker’s discovery?
In the comments, others say that Alani should take the ‘contaminated’ beverage more seriously.
“They def should be handling it that’s insane. Same thing happened to my grandmother with PC water bottles. She took a sip and a huge clear blob was in it. I believe they recalled a batch and gave her $$,” one says.
“This is extremely upsetting, I’m so sorry you had to deal with this no company should act like this,” another writes.
“It takes 1 person to realize thats there’s an issue, not 100. They should have done a investigation not dismissed, thats that problem here,” a third adds.
