This is Disney's most successful film of all time - and the result might surprise you

The most successful Disney movie of all time has been revealed.

New research by  PlayLikeMum  has revealed the top 10 most successful Disney movies, after analysing hundreds of Walt Disney Pictures films based on metacritic scores and box office takings.

And the number one film on their list might just surprise you, reports the Mirror .

The study found that the most successful  film  to date is one of the first the company ever released - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

The 1937 animated musical film is the earliest animated feature film Disney made and it has a metacritic score of 95 percent.

It has also made a whipping £815,134,700 at the UK box office and $982,090,000 over in the US.

Snow White was followed in the top five by Fantasia (1940), 101 Dalmatians (1961), The Lion King (1994) and Pinocchio (1940).

Also in the top 10 were the likes of the recent live action version of Mary Poppins (2018), Sleeping Beauty (1959), Bambi (1942), Finding Nemo and Toy Story 3 (2010).

But which movies failed to impress critics and bring in the big bucks?

Down the other end of the list, the five least successful Disney movies were said to be The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006), Alice Through The Looking Glass (2016), 102 Dalmatians (2000), Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo (1977) and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017).
