"This is absolute tosh": Nigel Farage clashes with Good Morning Britain's Charlotte Hawkins

Nigel Farage clashed with Charlotte Hawkins on Good Morning Britain today, during a heated debate after his party's success at the polls overnight.

Mr Farage appeared on GMB after surged to victory in the European Elections.

Speaking on the programme he said: "It's not a protest vote, The Brexit party is only six weeks old, it's a huge achievement, if we don't leave on 31st October we will go on to a General Election and surprise people there.

"We want to be part of the negotiating team, we want this country to be prepared to leave in October.

"I want us to be free and independent, I will not stop until we do so."

But host Charlotte stopped Mr Farage in his tracks saying that pro-remain parties combined actually had a bigger share of the vote.

But Farage hit back immediately, saying: "This is absolute tosh, add up the Brexit vote and UKIP and all the other leave parties and you will find Leave beat Remain.

"I'm tired of these remainers constantly moaning when they lose an election.

"This is just the beginning, we want to change politics for good."

Charlotte continued saying: "But what are your policies beyond that one thing - Brexit."

To which Farage said they would look at "political reform, help for businesses and regions and many other things."

Ending the interview on a lighter note Richard Madeley asked if Farage would be enjoying a drink today, as he'd given up booze during campaigning and he said: "Oh yes the wheels will fall off today."
