On June 10, Greene exploded online over a damning article claiming the Trump administration is preparing to send thousands of foreign detainees — including citizens from longtime allies like Britain, France, and Italy — to Guantánamo Bay.
Her response? “THIS IS A LIE!!!” followed by an all-caps demand for a retraction and a threat: “I hope the Trump admin SUES the Washington Post!!!” The White House, through spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt, has also denied the Post‘s reports.

Greene’s fiery denial centers on the idea that The Washington Post fabricated the story. However, she offers no evidence to contradict the Post’s reporting, which is attributed to multiple officials familiar with the planning.
And here’s the kicker: Jeff Bezos, the Post’s owner, is hardly the liberal puppet MTG makes him out to be. Bezos has long maintained ties with both Republican and Democratic power players — and reportedly has had cordial relations with Trump himself, appearing at his second term inauguration, despite their occasional spats.
Greene’s accusation fits into a familiar MAGA script: the media lies, Trump is innocent, and every damaging revelation is a Deep State hit job. But unless she can point to an actual inaccuracy — not just scream “LIE!!!” in all caps — her defense reads more like fanfiction than fact-check.

The Post reports that Trump’s advisors are discussing Guantánamo as a central holding facility for a surge in deportations and detentions. These transfers wouldn’t just involve suspected terrorists but foreign nationals of all kinds — even those whose only crime is immigration-related.
Officials say the plan could involve secretly detaining citizens of allied nations without notifying those governments. That’s not just diplomatically risky — it’s a potential breach of international law and an invitation for blowback from NATO partners.
It’s worth noting that Guantánamo already carries the global stain of indefinite detention and human rights abuses. Trump not only promised to keep it open during his first term but also signed an executive order to that effect in 2018.
