This huge machete was found in a car following a police chase in Leigh.
The driver was arrested after a massive search involving a police helicopter and the dog unit.
He was arrested for 'numerous offences' after the 'nasty piece of kit' was found, police said.
Traffic officers posted about the chase on Twitter on Monday morning.
They posted photos of the weapon and images taken on the police helicopter camera during the search.
A post, put up at 6.30am on the GMP Traffic account, said: "A driver has been arrested following a pursuit around Leigh.
"Great teamwork from GMP Traffic, GMP Tactical Dog Unit, The National Police Air Service and the Roads Policing Unit to detain the male for numerous offences. Quite a nasty piece of kit was found inside the vehicle."
