This huge 130-year-old mansion in the southside is like a mini Downton Abbey

When we think of huge, Downton Abbey-esque mansions, we tend to think of them in acres of sprawling countryside in the middle of nowhere.

So imagine our surprise when we came across this stunning villa in the heart of Glasgow's southside.

Located in Pollokshields, this six-bedroom B-listed Victorian mansion dates back 128 years to 1891 when it was built for future Lord Provost David Mason and is filled with original features.

It boasts a drawing room, dining room and morning room on the ground floor with a mezzanine level acting as a music room.

There are four bedrooms on the first floor with two bathrooms and one en suite plus an attic, huge basement, wine cellar, library, laundry room and garage. Phew!

But that's not all - the property is also located within stunning landscaped gardens, which include a sheltered sun terrace, so you can enjoy the (rare) sunny days in Glasgow.

Of course, this much house was never going to come cheap and the property is on the market for offers in the region of £1,200,000.

That's just a tiny bit outside our budget, so we'll just stay over here and daydream...
