This Honda Isn't An ADV160 or a PCX, But a Secret Third Thing We Can't Have

We've seen a rise in ADV-styled scooters in the past few years, and with good reason: They look cool. In some cases, they can also be more capable off-road than you might expect. The X-ADV seems like a tantalizing prospect (and a bit of a personal white whale for me), but it's currently a bit of a cheese that stands alone situation.

While it's true that not every ADV-styled scooter emanates from a different branch of Honda, it does seem like the company collectively enjoys exploring the genre. Case in point: An interesting new scooter design from Wuyang Honda, built for the Chinese market. It's called the NWG150, and it really does look quite a bit like the offspring of a forbidden night between the ADV160 and the PCX.

That's not a bad thing; at least, I don't think so. But as most parents would probably hope for their children, the NWG150 gets some cool features that you might not necessarily expect to see on a scooter, particularly a little 150 like this.

We'll start with the more normal, expected stuff first. There's a nice TFT display, ABS, front and rear disc brakes, and a rear shock that has preload adjustability. The NWG150 also has Bluetooth connectivity, as most new bikes and scooters do in the year 2025. There's also NFC and app unlock functionality when you pair it with your smartphone; none of these things are terribly surprising, particularly if you understand how many things in China are done via apps (or mini-apps inside WeChat).

If you opt for the touring version (!) of the NWG150, you also get tire pressure monitoring, heated handgrips, a heated windscreen (WHAT?), and a smart trunk. Pretty fancy features for a scooter, but we're also talking about a market where there are a lot of folks who ride scooters and small-displacement motorbikes, and have much greater love for them than we seem to do on this side of the pond.

What kind of money are we talking for such a neat little machine? The base version of the NWG150 will run you 16,980 Chinese yuan, which works out to about US $2,367 at the time of writing. Choose the Touring version with the fancy heated bells and whistles, and the price goes up to ¥ 17,980, or about US $2,506. You definitely can't get a scooter with these kinds of features for anything near that price new in our market.

But what do you think? If you had the chance, would you like to give the Wuyang Honda NWG150 a try (especially that fancy Touring version)? I know I would. Let me know how you feel about it in the comments.
