56 Perkins Street, Newcastle has been listed for sale. Pictures supplied

Strong early interest has reportedly come from local and overseas buyers for a historic Newcastle listing.

Rob O'Brien, of Century 21 Novocastrian, is marketing 56 Perkins Street that was originally built as the Presbyterian Manse, had life as a boarding house and is now configured as a block of four apartments.

Two apartments have two bedrooms and two have one bedroom and the front balcony has stunning views over the city and up to Port Stephens. There is four-car accommodation and the building is on a block of 709 square metres with an 18.9m frontage.

The property is on the market for the first time in around 60 years and is being offered in one line. It has a guide of $2.5 million to $2.75 million and is set for auction on June 5. The first open is May 15 at 11am.

Mr O'Brien said it had a "sought-after location" within walking distance of the city, schools, harbour and beaches, and offered a range of uses.

"You could leave it as four apartments. You could rent them. You could turn it into a residence upstairs and leave an apartment downstairs or make it a grand family home," Mr O'Brien said.

Mr Flook is selling the units at 1-4/72 Mitchell Street in one line. A price guide has not yet been set but the Newcastle Herald understands expectations are around $1.8 million. The block size is 702 square metres.

It is open Saturday at 2.15pm. The property returns around $62,400 per annum when fully tenanted.
