This high street red polka dot dress looks just like Kate Middleton's

If you’re stuck for summer styling inspiration, the Princess of Wales has just embraced this season’s most whimsical print. Appearing alongside King Charles at a Cancer Research reception to mark the charity’s 125th anniversary, Kate Middleton wore a covetable – and uncharacteristically bold – look.

The striking red dress with a heart-shaped polka dot finish hailed from Rodarte, a Los Angeles-based brand that’s new in the royal’s rotation. The vintage-inspired design features a white collar, sharp shoulders and belted silhouette, flaring down into a midi hem.

Completing the ensemble, Kate styled the dress with a scarlet Miu Miu clutch, a pair of Gianvito Rossi 105 suede pumps and a set of Ruby earrings.

The engagement took place at St James Palace, where the royals met with charity workers, volunteers, researchers and clinicians helping to improve the care and prevention of cancer. Since announcing her diagnosis in 2024 and revealing she was cancer-free a year later, Kate has attended a number of similar events in support of the cause.

While the princess’ £1,595 dress is naturally sold out, I’ve found a similar, more affordable style at one of my favourite high street brands, Nobody’s Child. A foolproof choice for summer occasions, be it a wedding or a barbecue, the red polka dot frock costs less than £100.

Nobody's Child red polka dot dress

Characterised by its timeless tea dress silhouette, this Nobody’s Child number features a flattering V-neckline and short puffy sleeves. The midi hemline lends itself to more special occasions – simply add a pair of heels and a clutch – or dress it down with ballet flats for the office. The clever seaming makes it fitted but still airy, while the red and white polka dot print nails this season’s most elegant trend.
