'This guy!' - Manchester United fans hail Fred after Bruno Fernandes goal vs Aston Villa

Manchester United supporters have been quick to hail the intelligence of midfielder Fred for his role in Bruno Fernandes' second goal against Aston Villa this evening.

Having been forced to ride a wave of Villa pressure in the opening 20 minutes of the second half, United doubled their advantage on 67 minutes courtesy of Fernandes' second of the contest.

The Portuguese star fired an emphatic effort into the back of the net, via the underside of the crossbar, after being slipped in by Fred, who showed tremendous levels of energy and understanding to rob Villa of possession high up the pitch.

The Brazilian, who also claimed an assist in the FA Cup win over Villa just five days ago, intercepted Morgan Sanson's pass by producing the pressing approach that Ralf Rangnick has been calling for, before slipping the ball into Fernandes to do the rest, with his powerful effort enough to secure his second goal of the evening.

Although it was Fernandes who grabbed the headlines for claiming his second of the encounter, it was Fred's desire and determination that won admiration and plaudits from United's supporters, with him producing the exact type of quality that Rangnick has been so desperate to see.

Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look to see what United's supporters have had to say about the midfield-enforcer.

As you can see from the messages displayed in the tweets above, Fred's application, work-rate and second assist in as many games has earned plenty of plaudits.

The Brazilian, although he is often criticised, has been in good form in recent weeks and is proving central to the style Rangnick is trying to implement at Old Trafford.

However, Fernandes' second was not enough to kill Villa off, with Steven Gerrard's side battling back from two goals down to make it 2-2 thanks to goals from Jacob Ramsey and debutant Philippe Coutinho.
